Realme 9 Pro 5G, An Excellent Midranger?
Realme has recently launched it's two devices in India namely, Realme 9 Pro 5g and Realme 9 Pro Plus 5g on 16th feb 2022. We did already talked about the Realme 9 Pro Plus, it's specs and also how the device performs in its segment. So Today we will be talking about it's little bro, Realme 9 Pro 5g. We will be seeing that is it a decent midranger in this segment or not and are things in which the phone stands out or lags behind. Let's talk about it,
So starting of with the Display, the device comes with a 6.6 inches full hd plus IPS LCD Display with a resolution of 1080x2418 pixels and with 400 ppi density. The Display also comes with a 120 hertz adaptive refresh rate display. The device has a maximum brightness of 400 nits.
But according to me and after seeing the competition at this price point, the IPS Lcd display is a major Drawback! We can normally see Amoled display's with 120 hertz refresh rate at this point and brightness of the phone is a thing to consider.
Next, talking about the Performance of this device, the device comes with Snapdragon 695 Processor. This a very good processor at this price range and also with 5g capability. It is an Octa core processor whose two cores are clocked at 2.2ghz and rest six cores at 1.8 ghz.
By Performance wise and seeing the price point the device is very good at this range.
Now comes the most important part of a phone that is the Cameras the device comes with a triple camera setup, the main camera is a 64 megapixel shooter which provides upto 6x digital zoom, the second camera is the 8 megapixel ultra wide camera and the third camera is 2 megapixel macro camera and in the front side the phone sports a 16 megapixel selfie shooter which clicks greater selfies and for low light the brand has given screen flash support which could also be seen in many devices and the front camera could also record videos at full hd at 30 fps.
In my opinion, the main camera is good but they should have provided zoom upto 10x . 8 megapixel ultra wide camera is nowadays seen in every phone the companies should come up with more decent ultra wide cameras and if we talk about the third camera which is 2 megapixel macro camera which is in my opinion is of literally no use. They should have stopped such gimmick and provided useful cameras.
Talking about the life part of the phone, there comes the Battery part. The Realme 9 Pro comes with a whopping 5000 Mah battery which could be charged with a 33 Watts Dart charger and the phone comes with a usb type c port.
So in the battery department the phone performs well and would be intresting to see how the phones battery fares in everday life.
Now let's talk about the phone's Design , the phone comes with a punch hole display, the display gets the gorilla glass protection, the sides are made up of plastic and the back is made up of plastic. The phone weighs around 195 grams. The phone has height of 164.3 mm, width of 75.6 mm and thickness of 8.5 mm. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on its side. The phone comes in three different colors, Aurora Green, Sunrise Blue and Midnight Black.
Variants the phone comes in two different storage variants one with 6gb ram and 128gb storage, other with 8gb ram and 256gb of storage. The device comes with ufs 2.2 storage and ram is LPDDR4 type. The device also supports otg.
Pricing talking of the first variant, with 6gb ram and 128gb storage, it comes at a price tag of 17,999 and the higher variant with 8gb ram and 256 gb storage comes at a price tag of 20,999.
My Verdict In my opinion the device is decent, the performance of device is good you could consider its lower variant but this processor at the price tag of 21k (with the upper variant) is not justified. In the camera department the device is average, the device disappoints in camera department a bit besides the main camera the brand needs to improve other two cameras instead of just playing gimmick with 2 megapixel macro camera. And, also the brand disappoints in Display department that is they should have given a amoled Display at this price point because most of the brands are doing so. The prices of both the variants could have been lower considering the specs, the base variant should be around 15k to 16k and upper variant should be around 18k to 19k. Rest all the things are decent in the phone. The phone has all the basic sensors and does a decent job in battery and performance department but some things could have been slightly better making the phone stand out in the competition but the phone lags at many important places.
Also, the device lags behind its predcessor, the Realme 8 Pro which was good in terms of camera and display than this device. But instead of improving the brand has degraded the device a bit.
